If a person is teaching in a classroom, meeting the RecognizeB5 eligibility requirements, we consider them a "Teacher" for RecognizeB5 program purposes, even if the person also serves as a Director or Site Administrator at their site.
We do understand that many administrators are taking on dual roles as teachers in classrooms due to staffing shortages. It is important for program eligibility to understand if this is happening occasionally or consistently. For eligibility, RecognizeB5 defines an eligible "Teacher" as a Teacher, Aide or Site Admin that since at least the time of registration, has been consistently working at least 30 hours per week directly with children birth - five (not yet in Kindergarten) in a classroom.
The "classroom setting" does not need to be a single specific classroom, but includes classroom spaces of children birth - five (not yet in Kindergarten), not the hallways, greeting spaces, lunchroom/playground/bus duty, etc.
All Site Administrators that are also teachers (consistently working in a classroom at least 30 hours per week directly with children birth to five (not yet in Kindergarten)) need to respond to the question during registration "Are you also teaching in a classroom at your site? *" which will create a dual Site Admin/ Teacher registration record.
The Director/Admin would need to remain working 30+ hours per week in a classroom directly with children birth to five (not yet in Kindergarten) through the entire employment period(s) to be eligible for the incentive payment(s).
If the Director/Administrator is working/floating into classrooms of all ages (school aged, etc), and is not in one or more classroom(s) of children specifically aged birth to five (not yet in Kindergarten) for at least 30 hours a week, they would not be eligible.
